It provides an enormous fat and dark sound suitable for any Shostakovich symphony, providing massive power and projection in any size orchestra. Because of the elongated elliptical head shape, it makes wider contact with the bars and makes them ring slightly longer than other models and enhancing the fundamental and immediacy of the pitch.
